Bendy and the Ink Machine is an episodic survival horror game developed by Joey Drew Studios, formerly known as theMeatly games. The game was initially released to Gamejolt on February 10th, 2017, as the first of five chapters, with a completed version of the game releasing to Steam on October 27th, 2018. the game would also reach PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on November 20th, with a mobile port following on December 21st.
The game takes place in the fictional Joey Drew Studios. The player takes the role of Henry Stein, a retired animator who receives an invitation to return to his former workplace after thirty years. Throughout the course of the game, Henry discovers a string of paranormal activity caused by the titular Ink Machine. Players experience the game through a first-person perspective and must perform certain tasks to progress through the story, such as collecting items, solving puzzles, or defeating waves of monsters. Players can also find hidden audio logs, that provide exposition on the downfall of the old animation studio.
